equiraduno, 39a edizione a paestum

« How could be described in a few words Campania’s beauties, history and traditions? Everyone knows how numerous they are, it’s a treasure that the whole world envies.», says Ferdinando Trotta, the president of the Campania’s Regional Committee . « I incite to saddle up and invite you to the thirty-ninth national Equiraduno Fitetrec-Ante. The horse is the expression of strength , youth, freedom, fun, peace and complicity, and riding a horse is the best way to dive into magnificent landscapes e ancient worlds that otherwise could be lost in everyday life. Italy is a beautiful country. Some time ago I was walking in Paestum, looking around, I said to myself it would be a pity that these resources could not be shared, so I had the idea to stage this meeting here. Our engagement will be total and perfect and everyone will feel at ease».
The event provides a three days minimum travel and it’s preceded by stages of approach; it is an annual meeting of wide international ranging with the participation, on average, of six/seven hundred couples. It is a very important moment for the executive cadres, because it attests the quality of the work done in every district and improves the host region’s professional skills.
«The Equiraduno – says Alberto Spinelli, the President of Fitetrec-Ante – is the result of the federal organs’ teamwork aimed at enhancing equestrian tourism. Every year the wandering meeting takes us to one of the Italy’s wonders and this is an important driving force for tourism and culture. The Equiraduno’s increasing success is based on the propelling boost of the Regional Organizing Committees, whose decisive synergies make this experience on horseback an authentic full immersion in the regional environment, biodiversity, traditions and culture ».
The active involvement of the Parco nazionale del Cilento e Vallo di Diano – Heritage of UNESCO- has been particularly significant for this edition in Paestum because it lead to the signing of an agreement with the Fitetrec-Ante Campania, whose scopes go far beyond this single event in July.
The great importance reserved to biodiversity is primary for the following edition, and this acquires a special value if we consider the native breed of horses, like the Persano, Salernitano and Napoletano. The Campania Regional Committee organized the Equiraduno in a particular area, very rich in landscapes of amazing beauty, historic, archaeological and unique artistic sites, and excellent in one of the most appreciated food-and-wine connoisseurship. The event involves almost the entire region, from Pompei to Scala, from the Parco regionale del Taburno to Parco nazionale del Cilento e Vallo di Diano, from Muro Lucano, to the Border with Basilicata, to Paestum.
The mews’ area is located about three kilometers from Paestum’s walls, the entrance in the ancient town will occur on the occasion of the final parade with, at the head, the coach with people with disability followed by the young members of the Federation, horsewomen/amazons and horsemen.
The 11th July’s final parade will be set in the scenery of Paestum’s amazing temples and majestic walls.
Six stages of approach are settled for this edition. Starting from Vallo di Diano, the route “Sulle tracce del brigante Tardio” traces old trails at a high altitude in Cervati’s district, going through mount Raralunga’s slopes and their magnificent beech woods- this territory has been kept under the outlaw’s control-. The horsemen will ride through these wonderings in a voyage aimed to discover of Amalfi’s Coast’s treasures, through Lattari’s mountain range, from Scala to “Monte Cerreto”. The "Mare, monti e allegria" route deserves a particular attention for it’s artistic, naturalistic, historic and cultural peculiarities: it starts from Materdomini, in Avellino’s province, and it traverses – near the Basilica di San Gerardo and Lake Laceno – the “Parco regionale dei monti Picentini”, a very fine place, especially for the rare endemic specimens living there. "Sulla via dei Lucani" leads the group to a very suggestive route through the forest, which is studded with ancient settlements perched on spurs. Calore’s valley is located along the path called "Sulle orme del cavallo Persano", a notable place in European environment, while the route "Cavallo che vai, Cilento che trovi” crosses the amazing plains along the rivers Calore and Alento, an eighty km course.
All the horsemen who will reach Paestum before Saturday 10th July can take part in daily walks led by local instructors.
Furthermore , July 9th will be totally dedicated to people with disability with a route organised in Seliano di Capaccio.
«We decided to set this edition of Equiraduno in Paestum – says the President of Campania’s Fitetrec-Ante Ferdinando Trotta – because of the amazing places in this region and its great cultural, historic and traditional heritage. Moreover, the institutions have been immediately interested with great attention to this event, as evidenced by the work done by Sovrintendenza alle Belle Arti, which allowed us to enter in the archaeological site of Paestum riding our horses and the important involvement of Parco nazionale del Cilento e Vallo di Diano; The Comune di Capaccio’s indispensable support is also noteworthy for the organization. The local authorities gave great support in the setting of the stages of approach, a unique network for its territorial, historic and natural value. The whole area is an important cultural workshop, enriched by the attention paid to its natural heritage. Thanks to Equiraduno, you will discover the Ranch Santomauro’s stud in Seliano di Capaccio, placed in the old historical site of Salernitano’s breeding and the itinerary dedicated to the Persano that takes the routes of transhumance directed to the mount, passing by the Bourbons’ game preserve. Furthermore, the Corps of Foresters from Castel di Sangro will come with some Persano exemplars from their breeding. Each feature makes this edition of Equiraduno a unique and compulsory event, also enhanced by the typical food-and-wine connoisseurship. It worth taking part for the natural beauties and the cultural implications that will be recalled by everyone who may say “I was there”.
We also gave the opportunity to the riders’ assistants to appreciate the richness of this area, by visiting the Park of Cilento, the Castelcivita’ s grotto, the archaeological park and the museum.
